OUR STORY
Founded in 2018, History With A Twist (HWAT) was created from a simple idea:
Black history deserves to be experienced — not just remembered.
History With A Twist creates and curates African American history and cultural experiences that educate, inspire, and connect communities.
From events and exhibits to workshops and emerging digital experiences, HWAT creates opportunities to discover history in unexpected and engaging ways.
Our commitment to African American history extends beyond the experiences we create. We are proud charter members of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (Washington, DC) and the International African American Museum (Charleston, SC).
